What Is There to Do in the Bishop Arts District

A little phonation in my head tells me to skip looking for things to do in Bishop Arts District today.

You've been hither earlier. Twice. No, thrice. And you won't discover anything new.

Merely I don't listen. I'm leaving Dallas in a week and a role of me wants to say goodbye to my favorite haunts.

Even though I'one thousand only moving an hr away, I still need to solidify a new daily routine – detect a new favorite local caffeine stop (currently Davis Street Espresso), a new favorite workspace (besides Davis Street Espresso), and a new favorite weekend hangout (permit's just settle on the fact that I'm really going to miss Davis Street Espresso). And as the clock ticks, I'm caught in a mad rush to run into every bit much of Dallas as possible.

As a result, I've decided to start a mini neighborhood guide series. We're kicking of with a stroll through Bishop Arts District, a historic hipster quarter in Oak Cliff.

Find All The Street Art

This street art wall in Bishop Arts District is a painting of a man carrying a cup of coffee towards a young couple in old Bishop Arts District. There's a street sign that shays Bishop Av and a man reading a newspaper in the window above.

The side streets of Bishop Arts Commune are covered in murals. From cheery modern scenes to bold comic style spreads, the walls brand a statement.

As we plough into a narrow aisle next to Strut, a article of clothing boutique, we see a blue-tinted square. Deceptively simple, the mural perfectly frames all my favorite things to do in Bishop Arts District: listening to live music, antique shopping, sipping coffee, and dog-watching.

Visit The Best Galleries (AKA All Of Them)

This sign says Bishop Arts District in white lettering above a black label. The shops below are Indigo, Zen, and Salon.

It's hard to miss all the galleries in Bishop Arts District. Peppered throughout the main complex, the upscale showrooms are locked between posh boutiques.

  • Neighborhood Shop + Gallery: Trendy exhibits featuring local only pieces.
  • Manuel Padilla Gallery: Bold colors. Intense brush strokes.
  • Gallery 3: Gimmicky pop art.

Discover Your Inner Green Thumb At The Cutest Blossom Shop EVER

This is the storefront of Dirt in Bishop Arts District. The storefront entrance is bright green (though the building is brick), including the shrubs outside. It looks very festive.

Floristry meets art at Clay, a quirky flower shop. Dirt's bundles are a flake rustic, scrap modernistic, bit cozy, and a chip assuming all at once. Warm and inviting, the designs are truly Southern-inspired centerpieces.

Dirt Address: 417 North Bishop Ave, Dallas, TX 75208, 10AM – 5PM

Become Vacation Inspired At AJ Vagabonds

There's an abstract structure that resembles a man made of wires in front of a blue store called Vagabonds in Bishop Arts District.

Upscale and fragile, AJ Vagabonds isn't a stereotypical rough-and-tumble outdoor shop (like the one Tim Allen owns in Terminal Man Continuing). As a urban center daughter who loves a practiced outdoor escape, I apace fell for the clear layout and practical design.

If you're looking for outdoor gifts, books, and gear (or similar me, just strolling through and stumbling upon something that you lot don't need simply must have), this is i of the best things to do in Bishop Arts District.

AJ Vagabonds Address: 4643, 336 W Eighth St, Dallas, TX 75208, 10AM – 6PM

Strike A Pose At The Most Instagrammable Wall In Town

This grungy Instagram wall is one of the top things to do in Bishop Arts Districts. It's got a plus and an equals and a heart that scale up a wall.

Pier 247 in Bishop Arts District has the nigh Instagrammable wall in Oak Cliff. With a faded backdrop and wire covered frame, the Beloved Equation Mural is more industrial than pretty.

But that's what I love most it. I don't think the wall was intended to exist a pop Instagram shot. You have to cross the street (and step into structure) to take this pic. The air, heavy with dust, is dense hither. The railing is grimy. The stairs are stained.

Just as I walk up the stairs, I (almost) don't detect the dirt. I'thou thinking about my ain life equation: Travel + Anshula = True Dearest.

Taste Some Locally Sourced Food (Hint: It'south Delicious)

This is the entrance of Stock & Barrel in Bishop Arts District. It's a plain white building with several plants lined outside.

A popular Sunday brunch spot, Stock & Barrel focuses on using high quality, local-sourced ingredients to whip up unique dishes. From shaved brussels sprouts to tempura cauliflower, Stock & Barrel's carte experiments with making the ordinary extraordinary.

Stock & Barrel Accost: 316 W Davis St, Dallas, TX 75208

Catch Dessert At Picole Pops. So Good.

This is a photo of a pop from Picole Pops in Bishop Arts District. The pop is a pale yellow with a spread of nutella and coconut shavings on top.

Paletas – frosty, Mexican-inspired, and summer-ready – are mutual in Dallas. Just Picole Pops takes a detour from traditional Paletas, crafting a colorful, boozy Brazilian-way recipe instead.

Prepare in a beige building with a slab of bright xanthous, Picole Pops' large storefront, in a cheery ode to the Brazilian flag, is vibrant.

The popsicles here are flossy. Churned and silky, the parlor's aesthetic "pops" are a satisfying cross between ice-foam and traditional popsicles.

We take a bite.

The inside is smooth and heavenly. With a streak of nutella, coconut flakes, and fruity interior, Picole Pops plays with textures. While the flavor feels experimental, Picole has the art of popsicles downwardly to a science.

Can you tell I'm in heaven?

This is a snap of the famous Fillings Matter wall in Bishop Arts District. The wall is located at Picole Pops. It's a textured green with the word filling written in yellow.

Or Grab Dessert At Emporium Pies. Equally Good.

Traditional Texas Food featured image.

In Texas, zip beats pecan pie. And Emporium Pies does pecan pie the all-time.

The Drunken Nut is a sash of sugariness spiked with crumbly pecans. Corn syrup free, the pie isn't overpowering. The flavors are intense, addictive, and experience-good.

Emporium Pies Address: 314 N Bishop Ave, Dallas, TX 75208

Store At A Cute Boutique (Or 20)

A picture of a yellow awning with an acorn logo in Bishop Arts District.

Bishop Arts District has the cutest boutiques. Fair alarm, I'm probably going to say that for every guide post, only I sincerely adore all the cozy outlets in Dallas.

  • Indigo 1745: Chic fashion. Practiced service.
  • The Laughing Willow: Vintage pieces.
  • Singer & Monk: Hats that will make Neal Caffrey jealous.
  • Fete-ish: Quirky gift shop.

Air current Downwardly The Day With A Book And A Potable

Wild detectives is the best bar in Dallas and one of the best secret spots in Dallas to top it off. On my hand, as I'm flipping the page of this book, is JORD wood watches.

Every bit the twenty-four hours winds down to a halt, nosotros caput to Wild Detectives, a literary bar in Dallas. With a story-inspired design and card, Wild Detectives, office bookstore and function alcohol lounge, is a mix of fine wine and reading.

Grab a drink. Grab a volume. And sit downwardly in the low-lit cabin. I'm settling for a hot chocolate and Tolstoy. How about you?

Wild Detectives address: 314 Due west Eighth St, Dallas, TX 75208

Bonus: More than Things To Do In Bishop Arts District

I'yard constantly discovering more things to do in Bishop Arts District. So here's a compilation of all my favorite spots.

  • Dude, Sweet Chocolate – Katherine Clapner is a genius. Plenty said. I take a whole post virtually the best chocolate in Dallas (spoiler warning: Dude, Sweet Chocolate is one of the best of the best). Recollect handsome gratis samples, unique flavors, and boundness fudge (I also love the salami).
  • Spinster Records – an indie vinyl record store that blurs the lines between fresh and vintage. Information technology's a popular stop amid music enthusiasts.
  • BBBop – a DFW chain that serves Korean staples with a Dallas twist (it's Seoul food – pun 100% intended). Warning: the hot pots come hot. I tend to go for the regular, as a result.
  • Society: The almost aesthetically pleasing candle shop on the planet. Do I need more candles? No. Will I yet terminate by Society whenever I get the chance? Admittedly (side note: I actually love the labels on the Texas Collection).

Did you lot enjoy this guide on all the things to do in Bishop Arts District? Have you always been to Bishop Arts Commune? Let me know in the comments below!
